This weekend was my cousin's zone wrestling tournament. I wasn't at the tournament for toooo long, but it was pretty fun while I was there & Scott {my cousin} wrestled really well all the way to the end.

After the tournament we went to dinner at Jack in the Box, where Sara & I then decided to eat the world's healthiest meal:

Saturday was also Mariah's birthday. So, I went back to Pahrump to surprise her!

Basically my brother is a superstar now. But for real. My brother, Joey, DJed a party this Saturday ^^
He did super awesome & the party was so fun! Well, as fun as it can be while recovering from illness. :P

^See that girl? That's my best friend, Mariah. You might recognize her from most of the pictures in this post.

Basically, we've been very best friends since we were in the 6th grade. Neither one of us can remember the details, all we remember is that I liked her handwriting & she liked my pink backpack. boom. best friends.

I can't even begin to explain how much I love her. She has been with me through absolutely everything.

She is the one person that no matter what we're doing, we'll have a good time. {We're ~~kind of~~ hilarious}

She drives me crazy sometimes, & I'm sure I do the same for her. {You're welcome, Mariah.} But I know that it will never make a difference, it's kinda too late now, I mean seven or eight years? We're pretty much stuck with each other at this point. (;

This girl is my favorite & I truly miss her every day.

&yes, she is oh-so magnificent.

weekend of the sniffles & a realization

This weekend was a wonderful one. I know it seems weird considering the title, because I was most certainly under the weather. BUT the second I got out of class on Friday, I rushed home, packed up a couple things & scampered off to my car for a weekend visit with my parents in St. George. It was just what the doctor ordered. Basically the entire weekend consisted of laying around watching my favorite movies & sleeping. There was homemade meals & oh what a joy it is to inhale that stuff. Mmmm..

Being sick always makes me feel all sorts of dramatic & so I was thinking about it before I left {like Thursday night} & I was getting really upset about how much has changed in the last 6 months. My entire life is different. My parents moved to St. George, so my house in Pahrump, the one I did most of my growing up in, is gone. Most of my friends, my very best friends throughout high school, are not even my friends anymore. I still talk to maybe 3 of them. & my school. My high school is virtually gone, they built a new building & are completely remodeling the old one. So, the school that I had some of my best teen memories, it's gone now. I can't go back to the school & reminisce the good'ol days {not as easily anyway}. I kind of feel like instead of gently being let out of the door into the real world, I've kinda been shoved out & the door was locked behind me. As I was being dramatic & upset about it, I made the decision to go to St. George the next day. & during my drive I realized something:
I'm much happier now than I was then.
As nice as it is to reminisce & remember the good times, knowing me, I would probably do it too much, & eventually I wouldn't think about anything but how much I miss that place, those people, & these memories. It would overwhelm my new life with my old life. I still have a pinch of sadness for the near to complete loss of my old life & my old ways, but overall I'm extremely happy.
Now I can visit my parents on the weekend with just a 40 minute drive.
Now I can realize who are my real friends & who never really was a friend at all.
Now, now I can grow up.

& I will never, ever forget these memories, but I need to leave them as what they are: memories.

& don't worry, Ali, I'll never forget this EPIC picture:

I love all of these memories & in some way or another, I really do love all of these people. They have helped me shape myself into who I am today, but now it's time to move on.

Awkward:

-These photo shoots. Thank goodness I don't get embarrassed in front of Alyssa, cause we try some weird stuff.

-The random stranger that kept adding me on Facebook that I kindaaaa recognize, only to find out it was someone sitting behind me at a basketball game. No talking, nothing. But he happened to know my name somehow & decided to add me on Facebook..

-My earrings constantly getting stuck to my scarf..it looks just plain weird to get it out, but looks even more weird to have the scarf dangling from my earlobe.

-Last night at "ab lab", it might have been just me, but I could swear the instructor kept staring at me with death eyes because I would stop occasionally. Kinda freaked me out.

-Finding Amanda's pillow pet stuck in between her mattress & the springs while going under her bed to steal food.

-When I thought a cute guy was saying "Hey" to me & after I responded with a flirty smile & a "Hey!" I saw that he was actually talking to the girl behind me as he proceeded to greet her with a kiss & grabbed her hand as they both walked away giving me strange looks...

-This moment. {I was sitting on something nasty, so I was throwing it}

-{This one happened a while ago, buuut} driving in snow for the very first time & sliding just the tiniest little bit & literally freaking out while Alyssa laughs at me.

Awesome:

-My boots. I just love 'em. (:

-Waking up late & simply not caring, only to realize that I can get ready in 15 minutes & look decent. & then I was early for class. Yep, that's pretty awesome.

-My eyes in some of these pictures, they look super weird & they actually didn't look like that in real life, but they turned out pretty cool.

-Buying red lipstick for the first time (:

-The cookies I dipped in hot chocolate the other night. Sooo good!

-Sneaking in an assignment that was due on Monday with the assignment that was due Wednesday, to later find out that I got full credit for both of them. score!

-Trying to find room in my closet / drawers for more clothes. I have a lot of clothes, my friends, a lot. & I think that's awesome. (:

1. I had an extremely lazy day yesterday, with absolutely no excuse. I just really, really didn't want to get up very often. Ahh well.

2. I don't even remember the last time I parted my hair on the side. I did it for these pictures though!

3. I'm obsessed with this chunky necklace I got forever ago & have hardly ever worn {I don't know why!} But my brother thought it looked silly with this outfit. Oh well. It sparkles, so I say it goes with anything.

4. Trying to break in those shoes yesterday was not fun. Hello, blisters. It's extremely unpleasant to meet you.

5. I've been listening to classical music all day. Weird, huh? I think so.

6. I can't believe it's only Wednesday! Blehh.

This post seems kinda negative. Sorry about that. I guess I'm just grumpy.

it's getting cold

After a couple weeks of it being practically spring weather {in January!}, it's finally starting to get pretty cold. It was a cloudy Monday & decided to snow on & off all day.

On the bright side, I am finally starting to use my camera the way I intended! {thanks to Alyssa} I'm gonna try these "outfit shoots" out for size. You'd think my first day of it I would have picked a bit snazzier outfit, huh? Oh well. This one will do. (:

1. I'm getting sick. & getting sick, though never fun, is much much worse when you can't just have your mom call the school to excuse your absence. Nope. You actually have to go to class, otherwise you're pretty much screwed. Poo. Hopefully it goes away soon.
2. I'm getting antsy for my new camera to come. I tracked the order & this morning it was in Salt Lake, so it should be here very soon!
3. I need to stop shopping. I got this financial aid refund & all of the sudden I think my checking account is limitless. {But no, Lisa. That's just not how it works}. So, I've fixed up my budgets & junk, so hopefully I can manage to keep that up.

new semester

So, the new semester has begun & it's definitely different. Waking up early is such a new thing for me considering my earliest class last semester was at noon {& it wasn't even every day} I'm beginning to get used to it & I'm beginning to LOVE it! I am totally finished with class by 11am, it's just maauu-vo-lous {british accent. anyone, anyone?} I was really surprised with how excited I am about my nutrition class. I hate science. {almost as much as I hate math. that is a lot of hate, people!} but, my nutrition class seems oh so very interesting & my teacher is a hoot.

& As some of you may know, I have to take math again this semester {bleh}, but my teacher is super funny & looks just like Mr. Weasly from Harry Potter, the resemblance is almost creepy. So, hopefully that will help make it a bit less miserable. Right now it's all review & easy beezy stuff, but soon it will definitely be tutor-needed material. Can't wait to start digging into that {not}.

But overall, this semester is starting out great & I'm really excited about it. (:

After almost a month the roommates are back in action! I've missed these girls so much!

I am so happy to be back at school & back in the dorms. Winter break was full of fun & hard work with the move & such. Now it's time for school work & college liiiiiiife!

So, I watch Say Yes to the Dress all the time, I just love it. & although, I'm just a baby, so I'm not thinking about the actual concept of marriage yet {& let's face it, I'm ridiculously single}, I do think a lot about wedding details. I saw this video & just loooved it.

& so now I'm thinking about all this wedding junk & I wanted to get it out of my system.

Excited

So, I am going back to Cedar City on Saturday {I have been in St. George for basically the entire break} & I am SO excited about it. I'm excited to start school again with a fresh new semester & new year. This semester is going to be pretty tough. I'm taking 17 credits & they start at 7a.m. {yikes!} But I think I can handle it & I'm happy to not be sleeping in until noon everyday, {weird, huh} I want to actually get up in the morning & not feel like my entire day is just a waste.

Spring Semester 2012 goals:
•Get to my 7a.m. class on time. {Which means get to bed on time.}
•Eat breakfast.
•Actually get dressed everyday {I'm an adult now, I think pajamas should only be worn to bed from now on}
•Get at least a 3.2 GPA
•Work out regularly {at least 3 times a week}
•Bring a water bottle everywhere & continually fill it up, keep hydrated!
•Don't let boys distract me the way they tend to. Yes, boys are great..but they're not great enough to sacrifice your sleep or grades. {Sorry, bro.}
•Actually go out on the weekends & enjoy myself. {Seems like a weird goal, but I actually have a problem with going out & socializing. I would rather sit at home & read by myself. However, that doesn't help to make friends, which brings me to my next goal....}
•Make more friends. At least one or two in every class. {Study groups, hello!}

I'm sure this semester will be a challenge, but I think it will be a really rewarding few months if I keep it up & do what I need to. Wish me luck!

The very beginning of the year was soo very exciting, because I got my braces off!

The beginning of February was, well, the accident. Cheerleading practice on February 10th, the very last practice the day before our last basketball game/senior night. Jessica (my flyer) was attempting for about the third time her double twist down. During our very last try, her elbow got my eyebrow & I got a friction cut..

I went on a suuuper fun vacation with the family, we went to Sea World, Hotel Del Coronado & then came home to go to Disneyland the very next week.

I guess Sara & I just really like the "thumbs up" pose. No big deal. But look at little Trey! Adorable? Yes.

This morning had been a pretty good morning. I woke up just ready for the day, ya know? I got up & fixed myself up this fancy fruit smoothie & was about to go on a run on the trails in the housing development my parents house is in. So, I finished up my smoothie, slid on my running shoes & stepped out the door...only to realize that I couldn't breathe. The smell. It smelled so so SO bad! I think somebody dumped out the entire sewer on the road while I was sleeping. I'm not exaggerating this one bit, folks. It seriously was a horrendous stench that I can't explain past what I already have.

So, I quietly & discretely backed up back into the house {as if the running gods were watching me, ashamed that I would give up a good run just because of the stink} But don't worry, my friends. I have escaped. I am safe from the terrible, terrible smell........for now.

A little bit about

So, as I said in my first post, I'm a student at Southern Utah University. I study English with an emphasis on creative writing while minoring in communications. {I'm just focusing on my generals at the moment, so please, please no fancy questions} I'm just about to embark on my second semester there, & so far I'm loving it.

I graduated from Pahrump Valley High School in June of 2011.

I have an absolutely incredible family that I love oh so very much.
